Are Videos Better than Books for Teaching?

With all of the varied and inspiring technological advances in communication, it is not surprising that the field of education has also stepped forward into the 21st century with remote tutors and educational programs taught completely over video. Many people in the know are now obtaining educations on everything from massage therapy to fully accredited law degrees in the comfort of their own home and on their own time through the miracle of video teaching. Young children with social stigmas are being taught at home through fully accredited elementary and secondary school programs that are taught entirely through video as well.

However, the idea of school being taught at any age through video is not an idea that has necessarily hit the mainstream just yet. The idea of video teaching is truly an insider business, with only those people who have some necessity for it ever finding and utilizing the idea, even though video teaching has been and continues to be sponsored by some of the highest ranking university and college programs in the nation.

Though the practice of video teaching is hardly mainstream, there are plenty of efforts in place that continue to expose more and more people of all ages and educational needs to the advantages of video teaching. There are also federal government programs, again hardly in the mainstream and most definitely not publicized, that are specifically targeted towards those people who might benefit most from video teaching efforts.

The people that are targeted by these efforts are usually kids who have expressed some kind of social stigma and would most likely fall behind in their schooling if it were not for the differentiated instruction techniques that video teaching is known for. There are also smaller government efforts that are made out to target adults who are looking for continuing educational opportunities. These programs have scholarships and federal grants available for them just like college and university programs.

The advantages of video teaching, especially for adults that are looking for continuing educational opportunities, is the complete flexibility with which a student can take a program. No longer do students looking for a law degree have to stop their current employment, sacrifice time with their families and friends, and go into massive debt wasting transportation resources just in order to have a chance at an advanced degree.

With these types of advantages, it is difficult to understand why more attention has not been focused on these types of video programs which give flexibility to the educational system. However, with the efforts of a few, this is sure to change as the world continues to gravitate to electronic commerce.

What to Look For in Dance Colleges

Dance programs are often quite competitive. Finding the right program, though, can often be a trial in its own right. There are many schools that offer programs of some sort, but finding dance colleges that are worth the time and money spent can be a challenge unto itself. If you take the time to look at various schools, you should be able to find certain criteria that set certain programs apart. While there are many different factors you should consider, it is important to take the time to consider one of the most vital – the reputation and the experience of the faculty.

Finding dance colleges and programs can be difficult, but it can be done. The most important thing to take a look at is always the faculty; while graduate employment may rise and fall with the economy, the quality of a school’s staff tends to stay fairly consistent. Always make sure to take the time to look at your prospective schools’ faculty roster, and make sure to take a careful look at the accomplishments of those individuals. If you find that the school does not have a faculty that is skilled in the art of dance, you may need to take a look at others schools.

There are, of course, other criteria that are important when looking at dance colleges. Always look at the employment rate after graduation, where alumni have performed and always take the time to make sure that the cost of the school is within your budget. With a bit of time and effort, you should be able to find a school that fits your needs and that will put you on the best path for your future. While many schools offer dance programs, it is important find the school that will be right for you.
